A Roman Holiday - Our Itinerary

I shared in my previous post some trip planning tips for a holiday in Rome. Here, I would like to share an outline of our Rome itinerary

The walking duration on the map indicates the the total walking time. Although we walked for the most part, we did use metro/bus to get to places when the walking time exceeds 30 minutes.


Day 1 
  • St. Peter's Square (for general mass), St. Peter's Basilica
  • The Vatican Museums + Sistine Chapel
  • The Spanish Steps (closed for renovation), the Fountain of the Ugly Boat, Trinita dei Monti
  • Trevi Fountain



Day 2
  • Basilica Papale di Santa Maria Maggiore
  • Colosseum
  • Palatine Hill + Roman Forum
  • Dinner along Via Urbana (there are many restaurants along this street)



Day 3
  • Campo de' Fiori (good for souvenir shopping)
  • Piazza Navona
  • The Pantheon
  • Coffee break at Sant' Eustachio il caffe
  • Explore the Trastevere area and chill at one of the cafes/ restaurants
  • Basilica of Our Lady in Trastevere
  • Santa Cecilia in Trastevere
  • Take a bus back to hotel from Porte Portese (enjoy the city view from the bus)



Day 4
  • Santa Maria degli Angeli e dei Martiri (Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels and the Martyrs)
  • Gallery Borghese
  • Chill at the Villa Borghese gardens (watching people and dogs)
  • Piazza del Popolo
  • Dinner at La Carbonara



Day 5 
  • National Museum of Rome
